The Human Target, Season One
Any thoughts on The Human Target? It's not exactly genre, but it's close, being based on a DC Comic series.
I've only seen the first two episodes so far, with another three sitting on my DVR. It hasn't grabbed me yet. The action-adventure is quite well done, with good adrenaline-rushing action, but that's not usually enough for me. I want arcs and growing characterization, not the adventure of the week.
The second episode (aboard the airplane) offered maybe the barest hint of that by suggesting Chance's dirty past, but I want arcstory, not backstory.
I'm also a bit disappointed that the show seems to have done away with Chance's skill at disguise, and thus also at the identity dilemmas which I thought were the heart of the comic.
What do people who have seen more think?

Re: The Human Target, Season One
It's a very solid episodic action/adventure series, with a good performance from the lead (Mark Valley) and great performances from the co-stars (Chi McBride and Jackie Earle Haley).
I am wondering if the hanging plot threads the writers have dangled (FBI lady investigating Chance, Guerrero's mystery client, Chance's old boss) are going to go anywhere.
As for the master of disguise element from the comics, there's only so much you can do on a TV series without making your "leading man" into a Rod Serling type of guy who just appears at the beginning and end of each episode with the bulk of the show carried by guest stars.

Re: The Human Target, Season One
I gave up on it after the third episode (which was the one with the FBI lady). It became more apparent to me that they were introducing some potential long-term threads, but there were a couple of elements in the episode that I found so over-the-top-action-adventure (like their purposeful tumble off of a speeding motorcycle) and some that I found so dumb (like trained agent Chance showing up to the embassy without good fake ID) that I decided it 'twas not for me.
No problem, I'd just hoped it was going to be something that it wasn't based on the source material.
