After months of fielding questions from fans desperate to know if Sci Fi was ever going to make a decision on the fate of its clever private-eye/fantasy hybrid The Dresden Files, it's official: The show isn't returning for a second season.
Ah well, though to be honest, it never fully appealed to me (though I thought it was picking up as the season went on). The last two or three eps are still on my Tivo.
I'll just wait for the next book instead.
Having never read the books (yet) I really enjoyed the TV series. It was the only thing I watched on Sci-Fi. :(

I have read all the books and really enjoyed the tv show. I was really hoping the show would return for another season. IMO it was one of the better shows on SCI-FI channel.

My biggest problem was that it didn't measure up to the books IMO.
I always try really hard to judge adaptations each on their own merits, but for the TV show I felt it lost most of the strengths of the books (mainly, superb character development) and as a result it ended up fairly mediocre.
Mind you, as I said I thought it was improving, and maybe I'll be wowed when I see the last couple of episodes. Also, this is the type of thing that I think would have improved with time--time that it's now not going to get.

I've never read the books, but the show has convinced me to pick them up eventually. I will miss it--it wasn't always great by any means, but it had some interesting elements and good episodes. I certainly liked it better than episode 1 of Flash Gordon.

I have say I'm still pissed about this. I really liked the show.
My anger at Sci-Fi is only increased given it rated pretty well from my understanding along with the fact that at the same time they wasted money on that utter drek Flash Gordon.
Of course the show did expose me to the books (well audiobooks so far) so i guess I can be thankful about that.
