Flash Gordon starts tomorrow. No idea if it'll be good or atrociously terrible, but you may want to set your Tivo to give the first episode a try.

My bet is on atrocious but it's a bet I'm willing to lose.

Yup, that's my bet too, but I would have said the same thing about Battlestar Galactica, sight unseen.

I couldn't place him until I looked in IMDB, but the star also played Whitney on Smallville.

I never would have made that connection.

The wife and I finished watching season 1 of Smallville last week;).

Well, I'm leaning towards the atrocious side, but I'll give it a few episodes to improve.

I watched up to the third episode, then decided I didn't need to watch it anymore.
I never found the show atrocious, but I never found it particularly intriguing either. The running back and forth between Mongo for the crisis of the week with the typical we-must-keep-the-secret backstory just didn't pull me in.
I also found Flash and Dale pretty weak leads, though I liked the alien bounty hunter quite a bit and the scientist OK.
Last I heard, Flash's ratings are weak enough that it's unlikely to get renewed.

From what I've seen, it probably doesn't deserve to be renewed.
I wonder why they insist on setting so much of it on earth, instead of exploring Mongo. Is it just a money thing--easier/no sets required?

If I had to guess, I'd say they were trying to repeat the success of Stargate*, but overall, I dunno. They made curious choices that didn't grab me.
* Though really, spending any time at all on Earth was a pretty late thing in the Stargate series, and never to the extent of these first few Flashes.

I pretty much assumed it was a money thing. Which is why Mongo looks just like earth but over exposed.
