Just finished watching Chamber of Secrets. I am still in shock at how badly they manage to screw up the suspense of the final battle. Harry's wounded, he's supposedly poisoned with only moments to live, and he sits conversing with Ginny and holding his arm. He doesn't even feel sick enough to lie down quite, and Ginny has no time to do more than notice he's been wounded, much less poisoned, when in comes Fawkes to make everything better.

Sigh. Such a waste.

I haven't seen Azkaban yet, but it's airing tomorrow night on ABC Family so I may well break down and watch it. I understand it's better, if darker. Thoughts?

The first two movies sucked, in my opinion, though that's by no means universally agreed upon. Your mileage may vary.

The third movie was very well-done, with some of the director's indie sensibilities leaking in, and it was slightly "off-canon" in the sense of sets being different from the first two. I kind of like this.

The fourth movie is done more conventionally, but it's also the best of the four. It cuts a lot but it keeps the spirit of the books and the dark feel of the storyline, and captures the suspense I had reading Goblet of Fire for the first time.

I loved it. So much so that this film was the one that convinced me to go try the books. Well...the audiobooks.
