As opposed to Sci-fi? Over here I see Interzone and the 3rd Alternative, and various american mags devoted to sci-fi, but I can't seem to find anything for fantasy.

I read far more Sci-fi novels than Fantasy, in fact the only fantasy novels I read are the oldies like Leiber and Moorcock. But it seems to me the old market of pulp fantasy magazines, (which is where these stories first saw print and then only later ended up in 'novel' anthologies), has gone completely.

Do people still read Fantasy shorts, or has the focus moved to the epic series of novels?

These are magazines that run fantasy short fiction, and which I've seen "in the wild" (at stores) in the U.S.

Realms of Fantasy (http://www.rofmagazine.com/)
Black Gate (http://www.blackgate.com/)
Fantasy & Science Fiction (http://www.sfsite.com/fsf/)
Weird Tales (http://www.weirdtalesmagazine.com/)

There are many others, some of them offered only on the web. Although it's a market resource for writers, Ralan's Webstravaganza (http://ralan.com/) could help you track down more fantasy short story publishers.

It does seem like there's more activity in fantasy novels, though.

There's Escape Pod (http://escapepod.org/). Which podcast, but it is a paying market for Fantasy and Sci-fi stories. There's talk of it branching off into a purely fantasy podcast, leaving Escape Pod as sci-fi only. They've already branched once before, creating Pseudopod (http://pseudopod.org/), their horror podcast. Both worth checking out in my opinion.

Also check duotrope.com for a list of markets that take fantasy stories. They crop up in the most unexpected of places. "Fantasy" can apply to a pretty broad range of stories.
