Well, I can't say I'm impressed by this new writing team yet. The first ep could be excused by massive piles of network notes forcing quick and unrealistic tie-ups of old plotlines, but in their first freeform exercise, I still found the new show pretty mediocre.
The ole' "Sheriff Scully" angle was the most annoying, because there's just no question that Johnny could prove himself to someone if wanted.
As for the actual plot, with the double fakeout ... bleh. Sure, a psychiatrist ends up holding a gun on a police officer twice in a day. Entirely believable.
However, I'm happy to see that as of the next episode our favorite VP is back. I hope that betokens a return to the apocalyptic plot apparently so callously discarded last episode.
