Apparently Thomas Disch committed suicide on the 4th.

He was a New Wave writer, which has never been my favorite of genres, despite my like of Michael Moorcock's work. His best known book was probably 334.

I've never read any of his books, as they always seemed too dark and/or weird.

His collection of short stories, Getting into Death, is good--I remember reading it in college years ago. He also wrote a novelization of The Prisoner which was interesting. I've always meant to get around to reading On Wings of Song but still haven't. He was also a poet, though I must admit I've not read his poetry either.

I've only read Camp Concentration decades ago, translated to Spanish (Que gran deuda tenemos los hispanoparlantes con Ultramar de Bolsillo) I found it very interesting, it had that dark sensibility, that refusal to go into those clichés of heroes and "optimism" and all that, using SF to portrait something more... angrier, depressing, but at the same time, interesting, pertinent...

But then I didnt see anything else about him anywhere, and kind of forgot - at the same time I became enamoured of Lem and still try to get everything I can from him, and I got the impression they were somewhat related in sensibilities if nothing else.

Found out he was blogging precisely by this site, but being absolutely deaf to poetry I didnt really dig into it.

I'm trying to see if I can get "The Dreams Our Stuff is Made Of"
