A question for the computer experts, if any, among readers -- my Averatec computer, which I love, has a touchpad, which I loathe. I don;t just loathe this one, I tloathe touchpads in general. I am also a bad typist and am always resting my wrists on the front of the computer where the touchpad is instead of holding them up like a real piano-player typist. The bottom of my hand passes over the touchpad and moves the cursor somewhere in the document I am typing, and (since I am looking at my keys rather than the screen as real typists do) I don't notice this and go on typing into the middle of some previous sentence.

Of course I have a mouse as well, plugged into the USB port. What I'd like to do is to be able to disable the touchpad, and only enable it on the occasions when I don;t have the mouse. I look at my control panel and disable every weird thing I can disable related to touchpads, but the touchpad continues to function as before.

Anybody know what I can do? I'm too old for typing class.
