Howdy, folks--just a quick note to let you know that my project, Footnotes to the Human Species (http://footnotes.pegritz.com), has returned after a too-long hiatus. The first two revised chapters of "City of Pillars" (http://footnotes.pegritz.com/category/city-of-pillars/) are back in place, and the site has been fully tweaked, fixed, etc. for your viewing pleasure!
I'm really not sure what happened to the site about a week ago....Something went wrong with the site's database: posts were showing up incomplete, garbled, and in the wrong order. I am by no means a PHP/MySQL genius, but I know enough about both to tweak WordPress with little trouble. After I upgraded the site's blogware to WP 2.5.1, the database just went crazy. At first, I thought there was a problem with WP 2.5.1, but my personal blog, PEGRITZ(.com)! (http://www.pegritz.com), is running 2.5.1 as well and hasn't had any problems at all.
Well...whatever. I scrapped the old database and site and rebuilt everything from local backups. Remember, folks: always keep local backups!
At any rate, the site is back, and "City of Pillars" has been heavily revised to add more necessary description and background. It's at least 1000X better than it was when I first began it...which should be a lesson to me: don't attempt giant writing projects when you're busy grading student papers.
