Here's a very subjective (i.e. largely free-associated) list of books that are still missing from the index. Either important books, popular books, or controversial books. If you feel inspired, add them. If you've noticed other books that are still missing, please list them. If you'd like to discuss the biases of the index, I can't see the harm.

* George Orwell, 1984
* George Orwell, Animal Farm
* Karel Čapek, R.U.R.
* Anthony Burgess, A Clockwork Orange
* Kurt Vonnegut, Slaughterhouse Five
* Anything by Cordwainer Smith
* Edwin Abbott, Flatland
* Arthur C. Clarke, 2001: A Space Odyssey
* Neal Stephenson, Snow Crash
* Vernor Vinge, A Fire Upon the Deep
* Stanislaw Lem, Solaris
* Margaret Atwood, The Handmaid's Tale
* E. E. "Doc" Smith, the Lensman books
* Ursula K. LeGuin, The Lathe of Heaven
* Peter S. Beagle, The Last Unicorn
* Mervyn Peake, the Gormenghast trilogy
* Jack Vance, The Dying Earth
* Poul Anderson, Three Hearts and Three Lions
* Anything by Thomas Pynchon
* Ira Levin, Rosemary's Baby
* Richard Adams, Watership Down
* Anything by Tim Powers
* John Updike, The Witches of Eastwick
* Anything by Lord Dunsany
* L. Frank Baum, the Oz books

Less seriously:

* Anne McCaffrey, the Dragonwhatever books
* Anything by David Eddings
* Robert A. Heinlein, his earlier, more fun books
* Michael Crichton, The Andromeda Strain
* L. Ron Hubbard, Battlefield Earth
* Carl Sagan, Contact
* Andre Norton, the Witch World series
* Anything by Piers Anthony

Unless I'm really sucking up the search function, I can't find any Star Wars or Star Trek books either.

I've been using as my current references for things that are missing and should really go in ASAP: the Nebula Awards (which I almost finished before I got distracted), the Hugo Awards, and a few books put out several years ago called 100 Best Fantasy, Modern Fantasy, 100 Best Science-Fiction, and 100 Best Horror.

I have this grand plan to get every Philip K. Dick book in the index. It might take a while, though.

Han Solo's Revenge is all I can find.

That does miss some of the really old stuff. I threw in all the Verne (http://index.xenagia.net/display-search.phtml?key=contributor&value=Jules+Verne&sort=system) and Wells (http://index.xenagia.net/display-search.phtml?key=contributor&value=H.+G.+Wells&sort=system) and Sturgeons (http://index.xenagia.net/display-search.phtml?key=contributor&value=Theodore+Sturgeon&sort=system) I could find a while back, and I finally found my copies of Frankenstein and Brave New World.

* L. Frank Baum, the Oz books

I added the ten Oz books I have: the first six Baum, and four Plumleys. Actually I bet I have a Philip Jose Farmer Oz book too ...

I've been reading a Star Trek novel on my breaks at work and added that this morning. I've got copies of 2001 and 2010 (and I think the third book - the title escapes me) at home as well, and I can add those this evening.
