Well, they're certainly giving the show a huge facelift for season 4. Here's the latest casting news, which I've blacked out in case it's a spoiler for an existing character:
Producers of SCI FI Channel's original series Stargate Atlantis (http://www.scifi.com/atlantis/) told SCI FI Wire that the upcoming fourth season will add former Firefly cast member Jewel Staite to the cast as a new doctor. Staite, who also appeared in the Firefly feature film, Serenity, as well as the short-lived fantasy series Wonderfalls, will play Dr. Jennifer Keller. She joins Stargate SG-1 (http://www.scifi.com/stargate/) cast member Amanda Tapping, who also joins Atlantis' cast, reprising her role of Col. Samantha Carter. And as for the existing character, let me say, what about Carson???. He's grown on me over the last few seasons, and I'd sad to see him go. Of course I'm about 3 episodes behind, so maybe something tragic has already happened to him that I don't know about.
Adding this on to the Carter/Weir switch really suggests that Atlantis is going to be a different show next season. And, I've been quite surprised how constantly the show reinvents itself, after SG:1 was so rock-solid consistent for so many years.
