As if things weren't bad enough for Obama, there is a new version of Edward Everett Hale's patriotic tearjerker scheduled for release in 2008. In case you never read it (it was in our 6th grade reader) it's about a real person, Philip Nolan, who being tried for treason with Aaron Burr, declared to the judge: "Damn the United States. I wish I may never hear of the United States again." The judge granted his wish. An earlier version (there have been many) starred Cliff Robertson and Beau Bridges. I'll bet we'll be seeing some reruns.
