Google fails again, so far

Reading a book about WASPs (Women's AIr Service Patrol) during WWII. WASP pilots in the Ferry Command arrive at an airfield aboard a DC-3 and have to make theri way to their barracks. They find a cab, discuss the fare with him, and crowd in. "Get for home, Bruno!" cries one. There's no indication that they've learned the driver's name. This sounds like a catch-phrase to me, like "Home, James" said when in a car to a pretend chauffeur. An Italian comic's line? Certainly a non-native speaker.

I don't HAVE to know this, but does anybody?
