Ding-Dong! Do you hear that song? It's Christmastime!
Time to ask yourself that perennially embarrassing
question: Were'nt you happier long ago
when you believed in Santa Claus? Jesus says
right there in the Bible
you should become a child again
if you want to worship Him
as your god. There's even an ad on tv
sponsored by some big Protestant denomination
that shows a kid whose kite comes down from heaven
with a simple handwritten message
straight from God Himself, presumably:

Believe Again.

Do you need it spelled out
any more clearly? So get with that Xmas spirit
and buy yourself a big fucking SUV. Pig out!
And if you're caught with your hand
in the cookie jar, just lie
like a Senator or a baseball star
or a singer shoplifting when she's spaced out
on cocaine. If they can, you can too.
Maybe you don't believe all that crap
in a lie-detector sort-of way,
but if you just look at the camera
with the right kind of smile
and point out that we are all
God's children, each and every one of us,
other liars like you may think
you're their kind of guy on election day.
It can't hurt to try.
