My cousin Els (http://elswhere.blogspot.com/), Librarienne Extraordinaire, and a discriminating connoiseuse of children's books from Day One, has posted her take on The Golden Dreydl (http://bookbk.blogspot.com/2007/11/light-up-darkness-with-hanukkah-books.html#links) (cross-posted at Librarian Mom (http://scholasticparents.typepad.com/librarian_mom/2007/11/light-up-the-da.html)), along with a couple of other books on which I wholeheartedly share her opinion (and so, I guess, does Delia, who has given me both of them for Chanukah over the years!).

I'm thrilled to be up on her excellent cool blog - but I really treasure the letter she wrote me about how her daughter loves & riffs on the jokes I put in the book, which I got when I was about her age from my Uncle Ron, Els' own dad. After all, passing on family traditions is what Chanukah's all about . . . .

4 candles tonight, folks. And a friend is coming in from Boston to go to the opera with Delia tomorrow night (they're completing the Romeo & Juliet Trifecta - we saw the play & the ballet this summer - but I draw the line at Gounod! Besides, um, the Met was sold out) - I wonder if we can have dinner somewhere they serve latkes?
