And to think that 48 hours ago I was sweating in hot sunlight, peeling off as many clothes as possible and jumping into the waves!
It snowed the first morning I was back in NYC. I schlepped my books (and peacock puppet) to the 92nd St Y, and did my 2 shows - delighted that friends came and brought their little boy! Jessica even helped with my puppet, bless her. Then I ran down to the Armory Crafts Fair to see my friend Wendy Ellertson (http://www.interstitialarts.org/who/wendy_ellertson.html)'s ever-fabulous booth, plus a few others - I didn't even ask the price of the ring I tried on - by the magical guy who did our wedding rings (http://www.sevenfingers.com/) - a miraculous piece inset with rubies that made me feel like running out and ruling the Byzantine Empire-- Probably just as well, come to that.
Today was sleep-in and catch-up, and then the author party at Books of Wonder, which I foolishly went to because it's only once a year and a lovely party; but now I must pack to go to Virginia Beach, where I'll see my brother in Portsmouth on Tues. and do a show on Weds.evening at the JCC (http://www.simonfamilyj.org/). I'm afraid I'm leaving a bit of a mess for Delia when she gets back from Jamaica; but, hey, I got her a swell Chanukah present - if I can only find the wrapping paper . . . . (Gee, which do you think she'd like better? A nicely-wrapped present or a sink not full of dishes? Me, too!)
I've read many books and thought many thoughts; I hope I'll have time to write some of them up for you once Golden Dreydl (http://www.sff.net/people/kushnerSherman/Kushner/dreydl.html) madness has passed. Hey! Penny Schwartz in Boston just did a nice interview about it/me for JBooks.com!

Meanwhile, tomorrow's the first night of Chanukah. Light a candle for me.
